Project Summary
The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project in Queensland’s Surat Basin must comply with environmental license conditions, including no significant environmental impact on the near surface. This is a complex monitoring task as CO2 is a naturally occurring gas fundamental to ecosystem processes, and therefore very variable.
ANLEC R&D has funded a significant suite of projects for environmental monitoring applicable to the conditions at the Glenhaven EPQ7 site, and for application to the South Surat Basin EPQ10 site. These projects form a unique and comprehensive assessment of a range of highly relevant shallow monitoring techniques, which inform each other.
This project will synthesize the findings of these various ANLEC R&D funded projects in environmental monitoring, with the objective of presenting a coherent and synergistic programme that could potentially be applied at EPQ10 South Surat Basin site.
